The festival officially starts on 6th August followed by a big street parade called a Cavalcade on 8th August. We aim to be part of this praying along the streets and welcoming and celebrating the Holy Spirit’s presence. If you would like to participate in the cavalcade procession, please forward a description of your contribution with your application so that we can facilitate this for you. Please note applications for Cavalcade needs to be in by 15th May, 2010.
Drumming, dancing and colourful costumes are what you want to be going for. From the 2nd the outreach phase of Shine starts. Each weekday will be spent in corporate times of celebration, worship, prayer with the rest of the Shine family, while the afternoons and/or evenings will then be spent performing / participating on the streets and in venues.
This year the special events we are hosting, will include, Two Corporate Worship Celebrations, A Variety Show as part of the Free Fringe, A Christian Rock Concert, A Creative Youth Camp and A Creative Children’s Camp.
In response to our theme, ‘Gen Next’, most of our events will be focused towards youth and children and we encourage you to begin praying for some divine appointments. Most days you will have some free time to allow you to experience this amazing city and the festival and to develop relationships with people you have met.
We urge every team to have a performance team and a street team as it can be very tiring to do both but if you are up for it, don’t blame us for not warning you.
